JUL/01/2011, release 009: some bugs fixed.
MAY/12/2011, release 008: Displacement Compensation option now is saved per test, so a test done with
this correction activated will allways use this correction. When the option is changed in the main configuration the
program will ask if you want to change it for the loaded tests.

APR/12/2011, release 007: Landscape option added again for printer.
APR/12/2011, release 007: Speed printing reviewed in data table (it will adjust the speed step to the paper space available)
Add Brake Static Losses
This option is useful for dynamometers with brake, in which the brake has losses (air friction)
cannot be measured with the load cell, and the user want to compensate these losses by using the
retarder's manufacturer data
| (default) or test name | Where the changes are going to be applied |
| RPM and Losses (N*m) | rpm values and losses values in Newton*meter |
| Apply losses | Enable or dissable the Static losses feature |
Add Calculated channel
With this option the User can add calculated channels based in formulae that use the real channel
data (for example C0 for roller) and constants defined in the configuration window (for example K0
for constant 0)
Valid operators:
- +
- -
- *
- /
- % (module, remainder)
- ^ (power)
- d (diferential)
- s (sinus)
- l (logarithm)
- i (integrate)
- ( ) parenthesis
Test constants:
- D: roller diameter
- T: time diferential, 1 / data acquisition frequency
- I: inertia
- R: ratio
Example:
| Test: | TEST_001 | (test to add the channel) |
| Channel: | R-Counter 1 | (new or existing channel, its name can be changed in the channels menu) |
| Formula: | d ( C0 / 60 * K1 * 2) * I * 50 + CI | (formula: torque calculated from roller and load cell, K1=3,1415) |
Calculated channels are not saved with the test data, they are recalculated every time that anything is
changed in the test (ratio, inertia, etc)
Printing
Column names for data report are splited into several lines if the name is too long (for example 'Lambda Correction')
Target Lambda Value is added to the 'Lambda Correction' calculated channel in order to store this data for future reference
SportDyno V3.4.13
- Losses interpolation: when losses data doesn't reach the starting point of the test, now they are interpolated towards the origin (but ending on the starting rpm point), in this way it creates a good approximation to the missing losses data (NOV/3/2009, release 8) .
- Table data page options: no data table / data at 1st page / data at 2nd page (MAY/21/09, release 4) .
- Second user-data column added to printed report (MAY/21/09, release 4).
- Steady mode added to the Gauges' Window (MAY/21/09, release 4).
- PID keys added (page up, page down) (MAY/21/09, release 4) .
- PID Configuration/Control window Modified in order to ease use of SP4 without console (MAY/21/09, release 4).
- Added Blank entry on inertia list (MAY/21/08, release 1) .
- Automatic Ratio Calculation DURING warmup (APR/29/08, release 1) Automatic ratio is useful for
the PID operation (only on SP4), as the PID reads roller speed, but it works with engine RPM (user enters the
desired target engine RPM), ratio is continuosly calculated during warmup in order this translation from
roller rpm to engine rpm is automatic and intuitive for the user. This option is only available when using the
engine rpm channel, otherwise the user must enter the ratio by hand.
- Reviewed Automatic Start/Stop Functions (APR/29/08, release 1) As ratio is automatically calculated
on this version, the program now can refer always to engine rpm in the automated modes, but it still using the
roller channel as source, that provides more reliable readings than engine channel.
- Optimized SP4 operation (APR/29/08, release 1) SP4 modes have been reviewed in order they are easier
to be operated by the user. When the user needs to do a ramp test, it simply enters the starting value,
acceleration rate and ending value (if desired), and the program will proceed with the automation: it will
keep all the time the engine rpm at the starting value during initial stabilization (after opening throttle),
and when user want to start the ramp, the program automatically start the test and enters in ramp mode.
It makes much easier the ramp mode than before (the user had to actuate over several buttons to get the
correct results). In addition the program sets automatically the ending value to start the test when the user
enters it on the ramp configuration.
- Optimized Target Display (SP4)(APR/29/08, release 1) In order to make easier the PID operation, target
value has been added to the engine rpm gauge. In this way is very intuitive to see how the engine is performing
comparated with the desired value, as both are on the same scale.
- Reviewed Gauges Window (APR/29/08, release 1) Test data has been arranged in several tabs in order to
keep it more clear, and to be able to add new features. In addition test data window and gauges window have
been merged inside a container window to avoid previous problems with separated windows (sometimes the data
window kept hiden).
- All Channels Available (SP4) (APR/29/08, release 1) In the previous version only a reduced set of channels
could be displayed on the SP4 screen, with 3.4 all channels can be displayed. The SP4 console has to be updated
to support this functionallity
SportDyno V3.3
- Added Average TQ (JUN/19/08, release 17) .
- Espace channel added to Sequencer Window (for WAIT_CH instruction) (JUN/19/08, release 17) .
- Added Blank entry on inertia list (MAY/21/08, release 16) .
- Automatic Weather Data Acquisition (SEP/3/07, release 8) 3 modes available: no weather hardware, channels O,P,Q (from SP4), or channels FD,FE,FF (external unit).
- Automatic Weather Data Acquisition (SEP/3/07, release 8) 3 modes available: no weather hardware, channels O,P,Q (from SP4), or channels FD,FE,FF (external unit).
- Automatic Start/Stop using speed (SEP/3/07, release 8) The user can choose between using RPM or Speed (kmh/mph) for the automatic start/stop functions.
- Automatic Stop mode (SEP/3/07, release 8) By default the automatic stop finish the test when once the acceleration curve has
finished, the deceleration curve reachs a value LOWER than the selected one (suitable for roller dynamometers), now the user can choose the
other option: the program finished the test when engine reachs a value HIGHER than the selected one (beter for engine dynamometers).
- Lambda Correction % added (SEP/3/07, release 8) This option helps to do EFI works, from existing lambda channel, the program
calculates a new channel with the correction percentaje needed to reach the desired AFR value. This percentaje can be applied directly to the fuel value
in the ECU table.
- Cursor Channel Data (SEP/3/07, release 8) While moving mouse on the main screen, more channel data is displayed on the yellow label.
- Channel Filter (AUG/23/07, release 7) Filter option added for all channels, it is useful for noisy channels as throttle, lambda, etc.
- "Slow test" Optimization (AUG/1/07, release 6) When doing test with low power engines over big rollers resulting data is a bit nervous
due to the slow increasing of the rpm value, and small inperfections of teeth (not visible on short tests). Now the program dinamically
addapts its "internal sampling frequency" to each speed to ensure enough accuracy is reached for every point, accumulating upto 5 samples
when needed, in order to get a higher rpm step and more accuracy.
- Automated COM Detection (AUG/1/07, release 06) This option is useful to detect automatically USB adaptors (from COM1-COM9).
- COM range increased (AUG/1/07, release 06) Old systems only allowed to use from COM1 to COM9, but with USB and bluetooth
adaptors sometimes COMs from 10 to 20 are used. Now the program has an internal communication core that allow to use any COM port.
- Sequencer Full version added (AUG/1/07, release 05) Now it is available the full version of sequencer. User can write its own "program" to control the dynamometer by using SP4 system.
- Better contrast in test list (JUL/1/07, release 05) Values of HP or TQ with dark colors for the cell, now use white text to upgrade contrast and readibility.
- TQ and HP peaks filtering (FEB/15/06, release 03) The program detects TQ and HP peaks (when speed changes from 0 to certain value) and removes
the peak done for this sudden change.
- Channel manual boundaries, certain channels are better displayed with fixed upper and lower boundaries. 3.3 version lets the user to setup
these boundaries in the channel configuration window.
- Slip % calculation, the program calculates a slit % ratio from a base value (base ratio) to see how the roller sleeps during acceleration.
The program DOESN'T calculate the base ratio, for an accurate ratio the user should do a stationary test without acceleration, to get the ratio when slip% is 0.
- SP4 support PID configuration window added. For SP4 setup, PID, brake, throttle, etc.
- SP3 and SP4 load cell setup digital amplifier setup in PID window (zero and scale are now digital).
- SP4 monitor shows all PID data (target, current speed, current brake action) to ease the PID setup process.
- Ramp Window Configuration The program lets to automatice the stabilization, load control, acceleration, process to ease repetitive testing with SP4.
SportDyno V3.2
- Max Speed field added (DEC/5/06, release 029) in configuration window, for Roller Speed Gauge.
- Record timing in munutes (NOV/30/06, release 028). Record time has been changed to minutes in configuration window, and code
has been reviewed to allow more than 10 minutes of recording (as in previous releases).
- Speed column in printing added (SEP-28-6, release 27). New column in printed/preview report: speed (km/h or mph).
Requested by some customers. Not really useful because it depends only on vehicle's ratio. Not the actual speed on track.
- Disable interpolation option (SEP-28-6, release 27). From version 3.0 new interpolation code was added to increase
accuracy on HP and TQ readings at high speed, and to enable the program to work with few pulses. But sometimes it can be useful
to disable this code to comparate different gear tooth configurations.
- Clear commentaries check box (JUL-7-6, release 26). This lets the user to determine wether the commentaries box is
set to blank for each new test or the previous text is kept.
- Channels box has been replaced by a dynamic list(JUN-23-05, release 17). This will enable the program to add more channels
to the list as they are being using: from a file from other user with more channels, or from a net of units with more channels.
- Cursor interpolation (JUN-23-05, release 00017), when moving the cursor in a zoomed channel, the samples of the test can be
far one from the next one, this caused the cursor to jump from one value to the next one, without following the
channel's line. Now the cursor motion has been interpolated to follow the graph.
- More info has been added to channel config window (JUN-23-05, release 00017). When moving the cursor slowly across
the channel data grid it will displaying some info about its fields.
- When saving (JUN-23-05, release 00017), if all channels was at the same frequency, the program records exactly the
same channel lenght for all of them, in order to keep the compatibility with older versions.
- After updating Frequency of Voltage values (JUN-23-05, release 00017), the program reads they again from the unit
to ensure the unit has received the same values (and they are allowed)
- Frequency and Voltage values transmission to SP1/SP3 (JUN-14-05). With the new firmware version 4, the
SP1 and SP4 modules can acquire a higher frequency at the analog inputs. In addition, the input voltage can
be changed from software (in previous versions a resistor has been removed or placed on the board to do this)
- Gauges window reviewed (JUN-14-05). Gauge control reviewed to display more accurately the scale.
In addition, the gauge window isn't a "modal" window, the program can still running (load tests, etc),
without closing it. It will serve in a future version to have several gauges windows.
- Internal data structure changed to allow channels at different speeds (MAY-30-05, release 00015).
We are going to send a new FIRMWARE upgrade (from version 3b to ver.4) to enable the SP1/SP3 to do data acquision faster
on channels J,K (lambda). Special care has been taken to save the data in the same maner as on older versions when the
standard frequency is used to keep the compatibility.
- Pre-data acquisition (MAY-30-05, release 00015). The recording procedure has been upgraded in order to do
data acquisition all time in the gauges window to record some data previous to the starting of the test.
In this way the program can draw the exact TQ and HP values at starting of the test and also it can start the test
with more accuracy when the automatic start option is used.
- Test data can be changed on the properties window (MAY-11-05). This version enables the user to change
several data from the test at the main test list. But as this list usually only shows some columns, it can be easier
to change certain data over the "properties" window. To display this window you can double-click over the HP and TQ
values on the list, or you can choose properties option (at the popup menu) with right-click.
- "Keep colours while loading tests" option added (MAY-11-05). As the test loading order has been changed
(now the new tests are loaded/done at first position of the list) the user can chose whether the program will keep the
current colour for the previous tests (default) or whether the program should assign again the colours.
- Ratio calculation while doing a dyno run. When using rpm pickup (ratio=0) the program will calculate the
ratio value while doing the dyno run in order to get the actual rpm reading without having to wait to the end of
the test (APR-20-2004)
- Correction factor on gauges screen. Now, you can change the correction factor before doing a dyno run. Changes
on this setting only will affect to next dyno runs, but existing ones will remain at their previous state (APR-19-2004)
- Correction factor per test. Now, each test stores its own correction factor and type at which it was done.
When the user changes the correction type at the configuration, the program asks the user if he wants to change the loaded
tests or not. In this way you will see the HP and TQ values at wich the test was done, unless you change it intentionally.
(APR-15-2004)
- Added "power at engine" option. The user can choose if HP and TQ at engine are displayed or not, always in brakets.
- Preset facility added: a preset combo has been added to the channel configuration window to
ease the channel setup process. Several configuration has been stored, and more will be added in future
for several types of sensors. (APR/13/05)
- Save picture option added: it is available at the "file" menu, (right clicking) over the
curve's area, and at the preview window (here all the preview is saved)
- Tests order has been changed, now the program places the new files and dyno runs at the top of the list,
instead of the bottom as before.
- "Remove last tests" option has been changed to "max. number of tests" option at the gauges window
- Correction factors added: SAE-J1349, DIN 70020, JIS D1001, ISO 1585 (MAR/9/05)
- Channel data interpolation table and options have been added to channel window, to let the user
to configure any analog sensor, even non-lineal (like LSM11 lambda), (MAR/7/05)
First release (FEB-28-2005):
- Gauge's screen look modified, gauges can be changed by the user
- Average power option added, and time taken in average area (from starting rpm to ending rpm)
- Average power utility add to create average test from several tests
- Autosave option (now it is optional)
- Test values can be modified directly over the grid (list), properties window has been removed
- Hide/show option for columns on the grid (there are a lot of columns, and the user can choose wich columns want to see)
- Time offset has been added to test to enable comparison between tests (the starting point of each test is not always the same)
- Ratio calculation has been unified (the same ratio for engine or vehicle), now ratio=engine rpm/roller rpm always
- ZOOM and SCROLL controls has been added, now the user can magnify certain area of the test and move across it
- Histogram window has been improved for the new ratio formula
